Dyslexia – Cool site that shows what it’s like for some with dyslexia. Diane Ravitch – Diane is a phenomenal blogger, a historian of education and Research Professor of Education at New York University. She is a big leader in the movement against corporate-influenced school reform. John Taylor Gatto – John is a former teacher with 30 years of experience. John wrote the underground classic “Dumbing Us Down: the Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling”, and “The Underground History of American Education: A Schoolteacher’s Intimate Investigation Into the Problem of Modern Schooling”. Alfie Kohn – Alfie is an author and lecturer who looks at education, parenting, competition amongst kids, discipline, problems with traditional schooling, homework, grades and standardized testing. NAGC: National Association for Gifted Children WolframAlpha is an AMAZINGLY powerful math site that I share with all my high school and college students. Bookmark this one for sure. Magic Math – A great resource with outside-the-box tricks for all ages. College Students – Excellent blog for all college students, CollegeInfoGeek Teachers Union Exposed Carly’s Voice – The website of a teenage girl with autism. Incredible story. The forums on this site are excellent for parents and people with autism. Brene Brown – Researcher on shame-excellent work, great insight applicable to students. Seth Godin – Marketing person with a twist- great for getting a better idea of the world our children are growing up in.
