Tools for student success
Video transcript
Hey everybody, this is Seth Perler.
This is definitely a different kind of video today.
I’m here in Boulder, Colorado, and I think spring has finally sprung.
There’s a herd of deer right behind me over there, just hanging out, relaxing in the afternoon, enjoying the beautiful weather.
It’s an amazing day, and it feels really good to get outside, step away from my office, and share something with you.
I have finally—finally—finished what’s called my opt-in gift.
An opt-in gift is something people receive when they sign up for my email newsletter. It’s a resource that I’ve created just for them.
I’ve been working on this for a long time.
Over the past six months, I’ve redesigned my website. I’ve worked really hard to create solutions that help kids who don’t fit inside the traditional school system—to provide strategies that actually work for these students while taking into account their unique needs and the important subtleties that make a difference.
Today I finally finished my opt-in gift, and I wanted to share it with all of you, who are already part of my audience.
From now on, whenever someone signs up for my newsletter, they’ll receive this mini-course.
Basically, I created five videos that cover some of the most important things I regularly teach my students to help them turn things around and become students who feel confident and successful in school.
Starting tomorrow, I’ll begin sending them out through what’s called a drip campaign.
That simply means I’ll send one video each day for five days.
The goal isn’t just to share information.
My goal is to build relationships—not only with those of you who’ve already been following my work, but also with people who are brand new to my website.
I want them to get to know who I am, receive something valuable, and hopefully feel connected enough to continue following my work and helping spread my message.
As you know, my mission is to help outside-the-box students navigate a school system that often doesn’t recognize or support their needs, and to help them learn how to succeed anyway.
Tomorrow you’ll receive the introduction, which serves as the first part of the series.
Then you’ll receive the remaining videos over the following days.
Each video is about ten minutes long.
I put an incredible amount of effort into creating them, and I sincerely hope you enjoy them.
More than anything, I would love your feedback.
Please feel free to email me and let me know what you think.
Give me your advice, your ideas, your criticisms, your compliments—anything.
If you think they’re terrible and should be redone, tell me.
I’ll seriously consider every comment because my goal is always to ask one question:
Does this best serve kids?
If your feedback helps improve that mission, I genuinely want to hear it.
Now, I really don’t ask my readers for much.
I love getting comments, although it’s become harder and harder to get comments on blogs these days.
But today I am going to ask for two things.
First, if you’re enjoying my videos, would you please subscribe to my YouTube channel? That really helps it grow.
Second, would you please share my work with someone you think it could help?
That could be a student, a parent, a teacher, a school, or someone on Facebook, Twitter, or anywhere else.
If you appreciate what I’m doing, simply tell people,
“Here’s this guy, Seth. He creates resources that might really help you.”
That would mean a lot to me.
Each week, I spend about three to four hours creating a single blog post and producing all of the content that goes with it.
On top of that, I’ve spent countless hours building this website.
It’s finally almost finished, and that feels incredibly good because I’m not a web designer.
The whole process has been long, difficult, and honestly pretty excruciating at times.
But I’m really proud of what I’ve built.
A huge part of my mission is to serve humanity and help change education.
Over the next several months, you’ll be hearing more about how I’m working toward that goal.
I want education to become powerful for all students—for both left-brain and right-brain learners—so that every student gets what they need to build the life they deserve.
I truly appreciate you for following my blog and supporting my work.
Be well.
Oh—and check out the hair!
Looks pretty good tonight, huh?
Be well, and have a great day.
