🧠 About MMNTM
Hi from Seth Perler,
Momentum is my online group EF coaching program with a cohort of 10 neurodivergent students. If your child commits to showing up and trying, you’ll get results that matter.
The question isn’t, “how do we motivate my child?” The real question is, “how do we empower students to build the EF skills necessary to do the important things in life, even if they are resistant and don’t ‘feel’ motivated?”
The answer: With skillful and compassionate support, with accountability, with a commitment to the process, and with other like-minded students.
But my goal isn’t just to help your child build the EF skills they need to succeed. It’s also to help them feel great about themselves. So my approach places a heavy emphasis on making your child feel seen, heard, noticed, accepted, and understood.
Parent win: A big benefit to parents is that you’re not the one trying to tell your child what they “should” be doing. Instead, I’m the one guiding them, in a setting that works.
What’s Included?
✅ 15 Student Jam Sessions with Seth. These 60-90 minute Zoom calls are the heart of Momentum, and it’s where the accountability magic happens. We start each session as a group, get honest about what we need to prioritize, then we jam out some high priority tasks we’re procrastinating on. I use Zoom breakout rooms to coach each student individually, circling back to them over and over, helping each student grow. (See more Jam Session details, and the agenda below)
✅ 3 x 1:1 Laser Coaching Calls – Schedule 3 x 30 min calls any time throughout the semester. Get laser focused coaching on any important area you choose. Sessions can be with or without parents, you choose what would help most. Time permitting, you can schedule more sessions at no additional cost. (Time permitting, MMNTM families can buy additional 60 minute 1:1 coaching for a special discount of 50% off my normal hourly rate of $200/hour = $100/hour.)
✅ Family Goal Setting Call – Get a special 45 minute Zoom with parents and your child, to dive into goal setting, in the areas that matters most to you.
✅ Direct Message Seth via WhatsApp: Students and parents can msg me any time, for any reason. This is an incredible tool for families who use it to solve issues that come up, share wins, get accountability, encouragement, share photos of exploding backpacks, before and after photos of study spaces, grade screenshots, etc. While I can’t reply at all hours, you can message me any time, and I will get back to you asap. WhatsApp is free on desktop app and phone. It allows text messaging, voice to text, voice memos, and up to 1 minute video messages.
✅ EF Challenges: I start many of the Jam Sessions with a quick lesson based on EF skills that will definitely help your child, followed by a challenge to use the skill in a concrete way in the coming weeks. These are recorded so parents can see them to understand how to support your child more.
✅ Special Resources: Access to my Student Success PDFs to make things easier. I have many phenomenal resources, that are exclusive for my clients, that I’ve spent years developing. I use these throughout the semester as needed, to help solve some of the biggest problems.
Is MMNTM Right For Us?
Momentum isn’t for everyone. Here’s what you need to know:
- Age = Middle School, High School, or College age. The age mix works incredibly well.
- About The Students – This is an eclectic group of accepting kids and parents. They are neurodivergent, quirky, and diverse in every way. All kids are 100% welcome here.
- Commitment: Students must want to be a part of Momentum, and must show up.
- Zoom: Kids must be willing and able to be on camera for important parts of the sessions, like group checkins, or 1:1 breakout rooms with me. These are not recorded, but I cannot run a group with empty rectangles on a screen. This is about real humans connecting, so you need good internet and a device with working audio and video.
- What Momentum is not: I can’t make your child do anything, and I don’t micromanage to “make sure they get all their work done”. This semester will not be perfect. But when you trust the process, show up, and try to apply what you’re learning, you will see great results. Fortunately, imperfect action is what matters – it’s the persistent effort that gets results – baby steps are everything.

More About Live Jam Sessions with Seth
Agenda
Begin at 5:00 PM Pacific, 8:00 PM Eastern. 60-90 min.
Students can join Zoom a few minutes early to chill and connect.
- (5 min) Checkin with the group to connect, and do a quick “temperature check” so I can a pulse on how everyone is doing.
- (5 min) Plan – We use my daily plan strategy to get honest about priorities for tonight’s Jam Session, and so students build this critical skill.
- (30-60 min) Action – Next I help students take action on their priorities. I move from student to student, coaching, helping them get unstuck, encouraging, clarifying how to make forward momentum.
- Wrap-up – Sometimes we do this as a group, sometimes I wrap up with a few kids at a time in breakout rooms. We discuss accountability, commitments or goals for the week, closing thoughts, takeaways, etc.
- I often stay on late with kids who want more time.
How Jam Sessions Help
- I see what each student needs, and circle back to them individually throughout the call, to help them stay on track, and move through their own resistance.
- I help kids learn to get honest with themselves about their current priorities, and realistic about how to plan them. I help them determine what matters most, and what they “should” focus on during the jam session.
- Often times we are “our own worst enemy,” and our thoughts hold us back. So I help students learn to move through their own resistance so they can TAKE ACTION, and make real progress on the important things they are avoiding.
- I help them learn to take “temperature checks” to help them tune into how they are doing, what is blocking them, and what they are doing that is working.
- I help them learn how to plan their upcoming week, and plan specifically when/how to focus on the things that matter.
- I help them learn how to advocate for themselves, to ask for and receive help, and how to make an actual plan to get the help they need.
- I help them learn how to make stretch plans for the week, so they are always pushing themselves a bit outside their comfort zones, because that’s where growth happens.
- I lead the group Zoom Waterfalls, where we all respond at the same time in the chat to important guiding questions, which help students (and myself) get clarity about what matters in different situations.

He has taught her to believe in herself. She is now graduating college and will walk in the December ceremony. Seth will be with us at the graduation and share the pride that we all feel. She could not have done it without him.” – Bonnie, Mom of college student, Los Angeles

2. Are we ready for Coaching?
Here’s the bottom line: My intention is to help students create substantial changes so they can turn the corner to be able to be successful and happy in school and life. To do this requires commitment from the student and parent in order to get results.
You may be ready if…
- Your child wants change, and is open to getting support.
- You’re actively involved in your child’s life, learning, and development, and are willing to participate in this process.
- You want honest and clear feedback from me, even if it’s hard to hear.
- Not only do students need to learn new mindsets, systems, and skills, they need to develop new habits, which takes patience and persistence.
- You’re not looking for a quick fix, and are willing to take persistent action.

“Before working with Seth I was studying most of the day, every day, with little results to reflect my effort. As my second semester at college was ending, I felt I wasn’t cut out for school and was debating dropping out of college. Fortunately, my mother convinced me to work with Seth and give school 1 more shot. I’m glad because the difference is undeniable and the study skills, priceless. From time management to study space set up, as well as study techniques that commit the information to memory over time rather than cramming 3 days before an exam. My stress decreased drastically, I was able to enjoy life and do well in school, my GPA improved from a 2.4 to a 3.6 the first semester. Now I enjoy the school experience!” -Nick B, College Student
4. Why you should not work with me?
- I do things differently, and I’m not right for everyone.
- Effective coaching is not quick, cheap, or easy. You get what you pay for, and the process takes time and persistent effort from students and parents.
- I only work with involved parents. I’m not here to “fix” a child. I’m here to coach you and your child to learn strategies that will help them navigate school and life. It’s not a magic bullet, and it doesn’t work for uninvolved parents who don’t have time to invest in the coaching process or in relationships with their children.
- I am honest and transparent with you, and don’t sugar coat things. If you hire me, I’m assuming you want my honest feedback.
- I believe in education, but I don’t believe in everything that goes on in schools. There are a lot of things I don’t agree with because they are remnants of an antiquated system and an educational culture that’s in desperate need of improvement. “Once in a while it really hits people that they don’t have to experience the world in the way that they have been told to” – Alan Keightley
- Letter grades are wildly inadequate and should be replaced by authentic forms of assessment that give families useful insights into the growth and needs of their students. This should have happened decades ago. Grades certainly improve with my coaching, but that’s not the purpose. The purpose is to help kids build skills to be successful, happy and healthy now and in their future. Therefore, the “metric” I’m most interested in is this: Does your child feel more successful, happier, and healthier? Are we helping them get the skills to build a better future while having a great childhood?
- Standardized tests cause more harm than good, and are often misused and misunderstood. They’re a “necessary evil” and that’s the only reason I care about helping kids navigate them.
- Public and private education are both typically driven by profits more than the needs of the students. Decisions are often influenced by people who profit from the status quo of the system, rather than educators, parents and students. Textbook, testing, curriculum and other companies perpetuate a false narrative about the best ways to educate our children in order to maximize profits, rather than do what’s best for kids.
- I’m fun with my students and families. I do not create a sterile, academic environment. My “professionalism” isn’t based on conforming to traditional standards, it’s based on connecting with students and caring about them personally. My relationship with students and families is personal and genuine.
- I’m not going to BS you. I’m going to give you my truth about helping your child.
5. Why EF Coaching is my passion?
For me, there’s nothing better than helping a struggling student turn it around.
I like the challenge of working with complex learners, helping them see how awesome they are, discover their strengths, get their stress in check, and develop more positive mindsets.
It’s about helping students become happier and more successful. For my definition of “success,” I don’t care about grades or test scores, I care about my students’ happiness and well-being. Grades just happen to go up as a byproduct.
So what do I do exactly? Through coaching I empower struggling students to experience greater success and happiness. I do this by meeting academic needs with a critical twist; Academic needs are addressed in conjunction with executive function, social, emotional, and lifestyle needs. It’s a holistic approach that attacks the problem from many angles. I help students develop the specific systems necessary to overcome their unique challenges.
With extensive experience addressing extraordinarily diverse learning needs of outside-the-box thinkers, coaching is personalized to help individuals shine.
My big goal with all students is to reach a point where they do not need my coaching because they can independently navigate their educational experience, and thus create a better future for themselves.
In gratitude and service,
